Sebastian and Raquel

World Tango Champion Sebastián Jimenez and internationally acclaimed dancer Raquel Makow represent a dynamic partnership rooted in authenticity, elegance, and a shared passion for Argentine Tango.

Sebastián began dancing tango at the age of ten in the and, at just eighteen, became the youngest Tango Salón World Champion in history when he won the 2010 World Championship in Buenos Aires. Since then, he has performed, taught, choreographed, and judged at many of the world's most prestigious tango festivals and stages.

Raquel Makow began dancing at the age of ten with Ballet, Jazz, Latin Ballroom. Her first Tango lesson was at age 15 in Salon Canning. After an accomplished international Ballroom career - including becoming Portuguese National Champion - she dedicated herself entirely to tango at age 22. She went on to become a seven-time finalist at the Tango World Championships, earning 2nd place in 2020 and 4th place in 2021, while performing, teaching, and judging internationally.

Sebastián and Raquel's story began in 2014 at the practica of renowned maestros Carlitos and Rosa Pérez at Club Sunderland in Villa Urquiza, Buenos Aires. Carlitos immediately envisioned them as a partnership, but the timing wasn't right, and each continued along separate artistic paths. Years later, after their students in common persistently encouraged them to dance together, they finally had their first official tryout in Buenos Aires in 2024. They felt immediate chemistry in the dancing and also deeply connected in their shared view of life and Tango.

Today, their partnership reflects the journey each has taken individually. Together they blend the raw authenticity and embrace of the traditional milongueros with the precision, dynamism, and expression of stage tango, creating a style that bridges the old and the new. Their teaching emphasizes connection, musicality, technique, communication, and respect, helping dancers discover not only how to move together, but how to truly connect through the dance.

Based in Lisbon, Portugal, Sebastián and Raquel travel internationally performing, teaching, and sharing their passion for Argentine Tango with communities around the world.

Beltango Quinteto

For more than two decades, Beltango Quinteto has stood as one of the world’s most distinctive tango ensembles – a group that bridges continents, cultures, and centuries of musical tradition.

Founded in Belgrade in 1998 by professor, bandoneonist, and composer Aleksandar Nikolic, Beltango quickly rose to prominence as the first authentic tango orchestra from the Balkans. In their hands, tango is not only preserved but reborn – enriched with the colors of the Balkans, the intensity of classical virtuosity, and the free spirit of improvisation. Their original “Balkango” opus has become a unique contribution to the global tango heritage.

Over the course of 1,500 concerts in more than 30 countries, Beltango has captivated audiences in symphonic halls, theaters, international festivals, grand milongas, and historic tango salons. In 2007, they achieved a historic milestone, becoming the only European tango orchestra invited by the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires to perform at the World Tango Festival, the very heart of tango culture. That same year they played at legendary Buenos Aires venues such as Salon Canning and Confiteria Ideal.

Their artistry has been recognized with the prestigious Astor Piazzolla Award, honoring Beltango’s role in carrying forward the maestro’s legacy while opening new creative horizons for tango worldwide. Piazzolla’s own son, Daniel Piazzolla, once remarked:

“Beltango proves the universal power of my father’s music with their marvelous interpretations.”
